Swinton Lions have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2025 season, as they sign St Helens centre-wing Ellis Anderson.
The Leigh native has joined the Swinton Lions for 2025 from the Saints Academy, where he spent three years playing for both the under-18s team and the reserves.
The young talent looks to be an exciting prospect, as in 2024 he scored 20 tries in 13 appearances for the under-18s team, and eight for the reserves.
Though the step up from academy level to a League One side would be daunting for some, Ellis has said he feels well prepared for the move.
He spoke of the jump, saying, “Obviously, playing reserves level last year, it was virtually Super League level some weeks with the players we were having to play against.
“I think obviously it will be a big adaptation but, it’s something I’m going to have to get used to quickly.”
When asked about his hopes in his partnership with the club, Ellis spoke of his high targets for his first season and said that he aims to be with the Salford side for a while.

He continued: “I don’t want it to just be a steppingstone, I do want to be working with the club for a long time.
“We’ve spoken to Paul Wood (head coach) already, and I’m really focused on being top try scorer in League One this year.”
The team are yet to have a training session together however, Ellis has said he already feels comfortable with the club, having already known a number of the players, and he feels as though it is a good environment to be getting into.
Growing up in Leigh, a rugby league town, and coming from a family of league players, Ellis said that rugby league was always the sport for him.
“My dad, uncle and grandad all played, so yeah it was etched in me from being a young lad really.”
The 2025 season’s League One fixtures are to be announced later this month with the release date confirmed as November 26.
