Bus passengers travelling this morning were left in shock, as two patients were taken to hospital after a car crashed into a Salford bus stop.
The car crashed into the bus stop on the Tootal Drive, by the Eccles Old Road, with one eye-witness sharing they heard a “bang and a crash.”
An eye-witness shared that a Mercedes was lodged into several bins at the side of the road just before the bus stop.
The crash has caused some significant damage with window glass scattered across the ground.
Police responded to the incident and cordoned off the area, whilst emergency services dealt with the scene.
A spokesperson from the North West Ambulance Service said: “Two patients were taken to hospital following an RTC. We received a call an 9:18am.”
The incident occurred shortly after passengers were getting off the bus, with one bus passenger Samuel Grant sharing that he heard a “bang and a crash” from the bottom deck of the bus.
After glancing to the left of the bus he discovered that the car had mounted the pavement and smashed the bus window in the process of the crash.
The car crashed into the bus shelter, leaving passengers screaming while tying to exit the bus.
Samuel described the state of the vehicle as he shared he “turned to see the bus stop and it was all crumpled inwards.”
The car was eventually removed, and placed onto the back of the recovery truck, with the road has now re-opening shortly after will all bus routes back to normal.
