Nine Salford food outlets have been nominated for the 2024 Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards.
The awards are the most prestigious and longstanding awards in the North West, celebrating the region’s exceptional hospitality industry.
This year’s shortlist features everything from takeaways to food traders to independent drink producers, with Salford eateries featuring in five different categories.
There are two restaurants up for ‘Takeaway of the Year’: Liverpool Street’s Maida Grill House, known for Indian and Pakistani favourites and Mrs A’s Kitchen, which is situated in Eccles and specialises in Bengali Street Food.
There’s another Eccles nomination, with the highly-rated Wandering Palate nominated for ‘Food and Drink Retailer of the Year’.
The popular food hall Kargo MKT, of Salford Quays, has seen itself bag two nominations for ‘Food Trader of the Year’, with Palestinian restaurant Baity and Ethopian-Eritrean restaurant House of Habesha also featuring on the shortlist.
There are three nominees from Salford for ‘Independent Drink Producer of the Year’: Pamona Island Brewery Co, Salford Rum Company and Pod Pea Vodka.
Italian restaurant Vero Moderno is the final restaurant nominated, up for ‘Neighbourhood Venue of the Year’.
Salford itself has also been nominated for ‘Food Neighbourhood of the Year’.
The judging panel is made up of the region’s leading food and drink critics, writers and experts, along with a public vote which is now live until 10th January 2025 which can be found here.
Polls will be combined with judges’ scores and the winners will be announced on 27th January 2025.
