Residents of Ordsall have launched a petition, sharing their frustration over parking restrictions in the local area.
Petitions have been launched after raising oncerns around parking restrictions and have found issue with the new developments in Ordsall.
The petition on charge.org was started by a local resident, calling for the council and relevant parking authorities to create more accessible parking spaces and ‘make Ordsall Lane a more liveable, less stressful place for everyone.’
The petition has also claimed that the increasing population in the area in the new apartments are having a further negative impact on parking, which is said to be effecting a large number of people.
Another has been put forward to the Salford City Council, that asking for restrictions placed on Cow Lane that were introduced in October, with residents wanting the issue to be resolved.
As many residents of the Middlewood apartment complex struggling with having 120 units but only 20 designated parking spaces for the leaseholders only.
The petition is calling for the council to consider either creating more parking spaces on the street for residents, or providing larger designated areas to decrease the disruption.
There are concerns in the area that these restrictions are going to increase the risk of ‘illegal parking practices’, which could put people in the area in danger and may only get worse with time.
A huge contributing factor to the problem has been the introduction of new flats on Cow Lane, with little to no parking.
This has caused congestion on the road and the surrounding areas for those who live and work nearby, as the apartments are very close to industrial units.
These changes have been happening for sixteen years, with developments being made on Cow Lane from 2008-2024.
