Swinton Lionesses Paul Humphries

Swinton Lionesses preparations for the 2025 season have begun with the club signing full-back Shannon Stephens.

The newly joined full-back, Shannon Stephens will be joining the Lionesses from Warrington Wolves.

The transfer from the Wolves will see her leave the club she made her debut for, and she had clearly made a great impression.

Throughout her time with the Wolves, she scored an incredible 50-metre try, that was then voted Try of the Month for the RFL.

Stephens originally showed great promise as a footballer, however, during college she decided to take up rugby league after taking part in a session.

Her love for the sport quickly grew, and it sparked her passion for the game.

Following the signing, she shared: “I’m so happy to be joining Swinton Lionesses at what’s an incredible time for the team”.

Shannon sustained an injury early on in the season last year which limited how much she was able to play.

However, after making a full recovery, she said: “I’m fully fit and ready to make a statement this year with Swinton.”

This signing was even great news for the recently appointed head coach Paul Humphries, who said: “We are delighted to have Shannon onboard for 2025. Shannon is a very talented player who can play in several positions and will benefit the team greatly.”

Shannon will join a number of signings looking to impress next season, and will be a fantastic addition to the squad.

However, the Lions are still on the look out for more future talent, with trials for the squad being held tonight (Wednesday 6 November) at the Salford City Roosters.

So why not give it a go and sign up here
