Salford City midfielder Kelly N’Mai has been nominated for the October Sky Betfred League Two player of the Month.

The Dutch winger was successful in receiving a nomination after scoring two goals and three assists helping the Ammies go on an impressive unbeaten run.

N’Mai was able to show his importance, with the goal contributions either proving to be the winner or equaliser in the games.

The winger has been able to help the Ammies sore up the table, and moving from 20th to 12th in the league.

Throughout October, Salford saw three wins, two draws, and two defeat – with Karl Robinson’s side now sitting comfortably midtable with the opportunity to move up a few places and even the playoffs within the next coming games.

The midfielder has been utilised both out wide and in the centre of the park by manager Karl Robinson, joined the club back in 2020 as part of the youth squad.

His progress saw the 20-year-old make his professional debut in 2021, as he went on to score his first goal the following year.

Born in the Netherlands, N’mai was scouted by Ajax before moving to the UK with his family.

The Dutchman had trials at both Manchester City and Manchester United before joining the Ammies.

Following a successful season where he was able to make a real breakthrough scoring three goals and two assists throughout his 33 appearances, N’mai was able to secure a new two year contract with the team in July of this year.

However, N’mai will have some tough competition as other nominees include league leaders Port Vale’s goalkeeper, who previously played for Salford City, Connor Ripley, Crewe’s Ryan Cooney and Chesterfield’s Will Grigg.

The winner will be announced this Friday, and N’mai could be the first Salford winner in nearly a year, with Matt Smith winning the award back in November 2023.
