Salford City’s Kylian Kouassi has been named in the League Two Team of the Week after the recent 2-1 win over Colchester.

The 21-year-old earned his spot in the team of the week after getting a goal and an assist as Salford travelled away to Colchester this past weekend.

Kouassi provided the assist to the Ammies’ first goal, scored by Kelly N’Mai, who broke the deadlock after 61 minutes.

And despite the Ammies conceding nine minutes later, with Harry Anderson scoring for the home opposition.

Salford were quickly able to return into the lead six minutes after Colchester’s equaliser, with Kouassi scoring the winner as he nestled the ball into the bottom left corner.

Securing all three points, the brilliant solo performance from Kouassi, also marked Karl Robinosn’s first away win of the season, lifting the spirits of the travelling fans.

Joining on loan from Blackpool, Kouassi has been growing in confidence as a player, and it showed, getting his first two goal involvements after seven league starts.

Speaking to club, he said: “I’m really happy to get my goal today, it’s been a long one and I just had to be patient but took it really well.

“I want to get more, I’m hungry for more. There is plenty of games in the season, so want to focus on the next game and keep getting more but I’m very happy to get the goal today.”

Salford have now won two league games in a row after last week’s 2-1 win at home to Swindon, and are now sat in a more reassuring position, sitting in 13th in the league and will hope to continue their winning form.

And with this turn in form for the Salford forward, they will be hoping to see the same from Kouassi as the Ammies travel to Fleetwood tomorrow night.
