A woman was taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a house in Monton earlier this morning.
Crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at around 5.15 am today (Tuesday), responding to a fire at a home on Montonmill Gardens.
Pictures taken early this morning showed a number of police and ambulance vehicles on the street which joins Montonfields Road.
Four fire engines from Eccles, Salford and Agecroft were deployed to battle the blaze.
Wearing breathing apparatus, teams of firefighters used three hose reels to quickly extinguish the fire.
The woman affected has been taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) but details about the person, her current condition and the severity of the injuries sustained are yet to be released.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 5.15 am on Tuesday 22 October, GMFRS crews were called to reports of a fire at a home on Montonmill Gardens in Eccles.
“Four fire engines from Eccles, Salford and Agecroft fire stations quickly attended the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels to extinguish the fire. A woman has been taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). GMFRS crews remain at the scene.”
Now that the fire in Monton has been extinguished, there is no longer a live threat to people in the Montonmill Gardens area. An investigation is underway, with fire crews and police looking for the cause of the blaze.
