Salford leadership reshuffle

The Salford Community Stadium will be host multiple games during the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. 

The newly acquired stadium by Salford City Council, will be one of the focuses on the global stage as they host four fixtures in the tournament.

The stadium that currently hosts Salford Red Devils and Sale Sharks, will host a two double headers on the 23 August and August 30.

The double-header will see Scotland take on Wales in a Pool B opener, and Australia and Samoa battle it out in Pool A.

The stadium will take a break, perform returning a week later to hose a another double header that will feature both Canada vs Wales and Scotland vs Fiji.

The exciting fixtures will be a part of the 10th edition of the Women’s Rugby World Cup.

The tournament will be the first of its kind to host 16 nations in the competition, with Brazil’s qualification making them the first ever South American side to qualify for the tournament.

There are 24 pool fixtures, spread across six venues, including six double-headers at Northampton, Exeter and Salford with Sunderland hosting the opening game between England and USA on 22 August.

The quarter-finals will be hosted by Exeter and Bristol with Bristol also hosting the two semi finals. The bronze medal match and final will be held at Twickenham on September 27 2025.

Organisers are hoping the tournament will have the same impact on women’s rugby in England as the Lionesses did on women’s football when they won their home European Championships in 2022.

Fans will have the opportunity to apply for tickets for all matches from 11:00am on Tuesday, 5 November until 11:00am on Tuesday, 19 November.

The tournament looks to be greatly significant for the future of women’s, of which hopes to be an exciting summer of sport in 2025.
