A new interactive digita festival, which will give Salfordians the chance to reflect on the impacts of digital technology, is set to open this week.
“Our digital lives”, launched by Salford Museum, will explore digital technology through arts , crafts and interactive activities through the course of the day on Wednesday (October 23). Talks and discussions are planned to take place as well.
The project, which has activities for all ages, will also encourage teenagers to take stock of their mental health and how social media can affect a person’s wellbeing.
Visitors will have the chance to record their own podcasting segments and try VR headsets.
A digital treasure hunt will also be available to join showing the journey of our data through devices and training social media algorithms to show us positive content that we want to see. There is also an interactive session involving robots.
The trail includes four different routes across the city-
Little explorers: An interactive play day for under 5s with story telling and and yoga.
Young innovators: Adventures from primary school students in the early key stages which includes educational activities and meet the robots sessions.
Tech trailblazers: Activities and educational sessions for ages 11 to 17 with hands on activities and discussions. Which include recording your own podcast and training your algorithm to have more positive effects on your wellbeing.
Mature minds: For the adults and older people there will be discussions and art exhibitions discussing the impact of technology on our lives.
The event is part of the Festival of Social Sciences event.
All activities will be free and without any booking fees.
