A charity is offering free cancer screening sessions in Salford to support people affected by life-limiting illnesses.

The charity ‘Being There’ is particularly targeting Swinton residents who have the lowest cancer screenings uptake in Salford.

The focus will be on breast, bowel and cervical cancer throughout the two sessions.

The event will be hosted on November 5 with two slots available during the day at 11am-1pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm.

Residents will be able to attend the free screening at Worsley Road United Reformed Church in Swinton, and receive both a screening and emotional support.

The charity ‘Being There‘ supports people with life-limiting conditions, such as cancer, COPD, heart disease and many others.

The Greater Manchester based-charity prides itself on listening confidentially to concerns about cancer, strokes, other respiratory diseases and serious illnesses.

As well as befriending, carer support, respite sitting, and social groups, it offers practical assistance such as taking people shopping or providing transport to hospital appointments.

The event will offer guests the chance to also receive a professional counselling service, as well being provided free tea and coffee.

Anyone wanting to attend can contact the team via salford@beingthere.org.uk or call the numbers provided.
