The Salford Foundation successfully held their first Social Mobility Conference at BBC Media City this week hoping to improve the lives of young people.
The inaugural conference was launched last Friday (11 October), that brought together leaders from business, education and the community.
The event was arrange to discuss how young people can be better supported to improve their lives and preparing youth for the future.
The conference was held following the establishment of a new Labour Government, with the foundation hoping to reflect on the national focus of driving economic growth in the workforce of the future.
Throughout the event, the Salford Foundation wanted to emphasise the importance of supporting younger people’s careers, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The foundation has been a vital part in the community since 1990, and has supported vulnerable and disadvantaged areas across the city.
For over 34 years, the charity has been able to build a fair society where everyone has access to the opportunities and resources needed to reach their full potential.

And this was evident with the success of the event, as Phil East, Chief Executive of Salford Foundation said: “The conference was a tremendous success.
“For over 30 years, Salford Foundation has been helping young people prepare for their future working lives, and our supporters in the business community have played an integral role in this mission.”
The conference reflected on the impact has taken its toll on younger generations, as Phil continued: “It’s essential that we invest in young people now, especially as they continue to face challenges from the legacies of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis.
“By bringing together leaders and experts at this critical moment, when a new government is focusing on growing the economy and equipping the workforce we were able to address key issues and work toward breaking down barriers to opportunity.”
Throughout the event wanted to showcase the importance of collaboration between buisnesses and employers across Greater Manchester.
Across the conference guests were able to engage with panel discussions and networking sessions in the hope of emphasising the importance of opportunities for young people.
It will hope that events like this will encourage those in investing in Greater Manchester to help secure a brighter future generations in the region.
