KURT HAGGERTY TO BECOME SALFORD RED DEVILS HEAD COACH IN 2026

Assistant coach, Kurt Haggerty is set to step into the role of  Head Coach for the Salford Red Devils in 2026. 

Kurt will replace the current head coach, Paul Rowley after he announced that in 2026 he will become the new Director of Rugby.

He has been identified as the successor, and will take on the role from November 1 2025.

Haggerty has worked closely with the Rowley since 2022, with the pair being apart of the formidable trio that has seen a lot of success.

And had previous success working with Paul Rowley at Leigh as a player and Toronto Wolfpack as a coach.

As assistant coach, Kurt has been able to help the Red Devils transition into a strong club in the Super League, reaching two playoffs in the last three seasons.

The move will hope to be a smooth transition from his predecessor, and will hopefully be a natural replacement.

As Haggerty said: “I am extremely proud to be the next Head Coach of Salford Red Devils in 2026.”

He continued sharing that he wants to keep the club moving the in same trajectory, he added: “When I joined the club back in 2022, there was a clear strategy, vision and legacy being implemented for the future of the club.

“It’s great to see the club moving in the right direction and it’s a very exciting time to be a part of the organisation.”

The support he has received from the club has been a major development in his career, as said: “I would like to thank Paul King and the board of directors for the opportunity to coach the Red Devils.

“I would also like to personally thank Paul Rowley for being a continued support network and mentor through this journey.

“And finally, thank you to my family for their unwavering support.”

The support from the club was also shared by Chief Executive Officer of Salford Red Devils, Paul King who said:“It is a time of real positivity for our Club and securing a succession plan for 2026 is another step in the right direction.

“I’m excited to see his abilities flourish as Head Coach.”

He continued: “He is one of the brightest young coaches in the game and I am looking forward to continuing our brilliant working relationship next season.”

The Red Devils will be now in a good position to set themselves on the right path ahead of the 2026 season.

With the position of head coach filled, and with it being a familiar face it looks to be an exciting continuation of all the efforts the club has made to progress.
