Head coach, Paul Rowley has revealed that he will become the new Director of Rugby of Salford Red Devils in 2026.

The major change will see the head coach step down from his current role at the end of the 2025 Super League Campaign.

Rowley who has been a part of the Red Devils set up since 2019, will transition to his new role in 2026.

His fantastic contributions to the side have been influential to the teams progression on the field.

Rowley was part of the coaching staff that reached the Super League Grand Final in his first year and the Challenge Cup Final in 2020.

Following the recent success of the club, he was appointed Head Coach ahead of the 2022 season, and was able to progress Salford to playoff places in two of his three league campaigns in charge.

The success will see the head coach go into his fourth and final season in the role before moving into the director position.

The Salford Red Devils coach was happy to address the supporters on his decision, he said: “I just want to thank you for the season we’ve had.

“The Grand Final is over now. It’s been a great year; I’ve totally enjoyed it and I’m hoping to see you all next year as well.”

He continued: “I just want to re-emphasise and reiterate the fact that I’m not going anywhere.

“I absolutely love it here. I’m committed to this place, and I want to be here for 2025 and beyond.”

And this was evident throughout the last season with the multiple effort attempting to poach him from the club, he showed his loyalty remaining at the club to build for the future.

And it is clear he has his mind set on the future as he hopes to find his successor, as he said: “I’ve put a lot of people in place that have got long-term futures now at the Club, good people – and there’s got to be succession.

“I’ve always said I want to appoint my successor and that’s what I’ve done at every club I’ve been at. This is no different.”

The new role will allow Rowley to oversee the club on all levels including first grade, Women’s, Reserves and our newly awarded Elite Academy.

His influences will hopefully continue the exciting attacking brand of rugby that allowed him to be nominated for Super League Coach of the Year on three consecutive occasions.

The coach has been an important figure to club which has been rewarded as Managing Director of Salford Red Devils, Paul King said: “We are delighted to secure Paul’s future for the long term.

“It was imperative we returned that loyalty and provided him with the opportunity to build a legacy for the club that will last generations.

“He has a great deal to offer not just in developing our playing and coaching network, but also in wider areas of the sport.”

The future looks to be an exciting one for the Red Devils as they aim to maintain their progression further in the Super League.
