salford weather warning

Salford is set to be hit by heavy rain today as the Met Office issues a yellow weather warning.

The Met Office expect Greater Manchester to see between 10-20mm of rainfall between 6pm today (October 15) and 12pm tomorrow (October 16).

The warning issue comes with the Met Office warning that “spells of heavy rain on Tuesday night and Wednesday may lead to some travel disruption and flooding in places.”

The yellow warning follows the heavy rainfall that Salford was subjected to in September, with the city seeing heavy rainfall across the city.

The rainfall earlier this month saw the River Irwell burst its banks late into the night after Greater Manchester was battered with days of heavy rain.

As rainfall is expected to impact the city from the evening until tomorrow midday, bus and train journeys may be delayed during the heightened rainfall.

The Met Office have warned residents that “spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.”

Drivers around the region should also be cautious of road conditions and amend their travel plans if needed.

The Met Office issued their best advice for the yellow warning: “Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.”
