The Duchess of York is hoping for a guest role in Coronation Street after a visit to the set and Salford Quays.
The former member of the British royal family Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, visited Salford Quays this week on Wednesday 9 October.
The Duchess took a tour of ITV Studios and the Coronation Street set on the Quays following a charity event in Greater Manchester.
She was joined by the star of the soap, Sally Dyvenor, who has played Sally Webster on Coronation Street for nearly 40 years.
On arrival she was greeted on set by the show’s executive producer, Iain MacLeod, as well the assistant producer Verity MacLeod, and Matt Cleary, the soap’s director of production.
The Duchess of York joked with the producers that she wanted an appearance on the show, as she said: “I’ve got to bamboozle you three to allow me to do a cameo.”
The 64-year-old took to the Rovers Return to pull a pint, alongside the stars Julia Goulding, Paddy Beaver and Jacob Roberts, who play Shona Platt, Max Turner and Kit Green, respectively.
The Duchess also gave her attempt of trying out a northern accent, as she asked Dyvenor: “What will you have, lass?”.
The Duchess and Dyvenor are both patrons of the Prevent Breast Cancer charity and were in Greater Manchester to tour the charity’s headquarters in Wythenshawe.
She continued by walking along the famous cobbled streets, where she also met Sam Aston who was filming a scene as his character Chesney Winter-Brown.
The Duchess spoke about her experience on Corrie, as she said: “Coming on the cobbles is quite a huge moment.”
And it seemed that she had convinced many along the cobbles, as Iain MacLeod promised to “get thinking” about a cameo part for her.
As he added: “The pint was excellent by the way, considering it was the first one.”
