A grassroots Winton football club is about to go global, after being taken over by Salford-born YouTuber Angry Ginge.

The YouTuber with 648,000 subscribers is now managing the under-18 side, Winton Wanderers Yanited FC.

The takeover is a part of his new Youtube series “We are Yanited”, which has already amassed more than two million views on the platform.

Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, is best known for his Twitch streams and has grown as a creator over the past few years.

The takeover has been a big success over the first three episodes, with Angry Ginge or Morgan saying: “I love it, I’m glad I could give the lads an opportunity, in the YouTube world everything is in London.

“I want to be able to give these lads the opportunities I never had, being scouted, making it out of grassroots.”

Morgan grew up in Eccles, and has stayed close to his Salford roots, even with his popularity growing as he said: “I will never ever forget Salford, I’m so proud to grow up here.

“Everything I went through when I was young, watching my mum grind, it’s given me the right mindset in life.”

It is clear that he wants to provide the best opportunity for the young talent across the city, he spoke ahead of the clubs potential, as he said: “Wherever the lads want to take it, if the lads want to do open age we will do that.”

The young YouTuber will be taking over the club alongside assistant manager Gary ‘Gaz’ Banfield, as they attempt to lead the the team Winton Yanited through Division 1 of the U-18 Bolton Bury & District League.

Ahead of the takeover, Gaz said: “We’ve been together just under three months. I’ve done coaching for five years…he asked me to make a team.”

And so they did, with the potential of being a part of the team gaining a great response, as he said: “The ad for trials got 207 responses. We narrowed it down to 18.

“I didn’t expect to be so big so quick.

“I’m not on social media as much so I never understood how big Morgan was. To me he was just a referee.”

Morgan has gained a lot of social media attention with loads of fans attending the games, with Gaz adding: “He was signing boots last week, he was there for an hour-and-a-half after the game.

“What you see on the internet, he’s (Morgan) exactly the same, he’s got time for everybody.”

Morgan has quickly established a strong relationship with the team, with the lads clearly looking up to him and respecting him both as a manager and a role model.

It is amazing to see what the influence of social media can have, and with the club aiming to continuing their winning ways it seems to be a positive experience for all.
