The Salford City manager encouraged team unity amongst the “new team” as he provided a passionate review of the team’s 0-0 draw at Prenton Park on Friday night.

A gutsy display from the visitors earned themselves a point after a disappointing performance the week before at home against Walsall.

“I thought we were the better team, I thought we created the best chances and I think territorially in the first half they were good”, Robinson began.

He quickly moved onto an early penalty shout for Salford: “The handball in the first half is a disgrace, you can see it clearly, he’s shifted his hand.

“I’ve seen the biomechanical movement that wasn’t natural that brought it down, I can’t believe he’s not given that.”

“How can you change your decision making process so quickly? I don’t care if the referees aren’t great, I don’t care if there’s inconsistencies [week in week out] I do care if there’s inconsistencies in one game.”

Robinson stressed the quality of his squad, giving the team credit for how well they have stuck together this early into the season when things aren’t necessarily going their way.

“We’ve probably only had a horrific 20 minutes this season and conceded two goals at home to Walsall but other than that, we don’t look as disconnected as other teams may look with the amount of players we’ve brought in.”

“It just seems at this point in time that things don’t seem to be falling for this new team”

Of the starting eleven against Tranmere, six of the squad were signings of Robinson’s and four changes were made following the 2-0 defeat against Walsall.

Robinson mentioned that he enjoyed his side’s grit and determination so far this season, saying: “We know we aren’t [where] we want to be eventually… we’ve had issues behind the scenes that are out of people’s control, but we just rolled up our sleeves and just confronted it.”

Referring back to his comments on refereeing decisions, Robinson emotionally explained: “I really care and our players really care, I want everybody to hate us.

“Everyone hates us anyway, everyone hates us because of our owners, I think, and the referees don’t give us anything. So shove it to the lot of them.

“We want to be hated all season and we’re going to fight for every single point.

“I’m proud of them tonight, and I’ll pat them on the back, they know that.”

Salford will travel to Newport looking to convert good team performances into a victory and move up into the top half of the table.
