The city of Salford is set to welcome the new largest employer of youth workers in Greater Manchester within the charity sector.

Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) is set to open its doors in early 2025 and hopes to create up to 70 full-time and part-time jobs.

The new 4,500 sq. ft. facility developed by the umbrella charity EMPOWER, who will see both the SYZ and the HideOut Youth Zone in Gorton.

The venue will have the capacity to accommodate over 150 young people and will host an abundance of activities for thousands in the community.

The site will be adjacent to Belvedere Road and Broadwalk in Pendleton, and provide opportunities such as health and wellbeing support, outdoor education, and an exciting climbing wall.

The facility will also offer resources to young people, such as the chance to explore music studios, multimedia suites, and a sports hall.

SYZ will be open even days a week, 52 weeks of the year for those aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs.

With over 20 activities every night for just 50p, a large number of visitors are expected to attend the Salford Youth Zone.

With the employer, EMPOWER hopes to recruit a range of roles for the facility.

The charity will be looking for roles that include senior leadership, youth work, catering, and finance.

With the current success of the HideOut Youth Zone in Gorton, Manchester, the two facilities will employ 140 workers and involve over 100 volunteers.
