The international midfielder Tyrese Fornah will be joining The Ammies on loan from Derby County for the year.
This loan spell comes after winning automatic promotion from League One with the Rams.
Before joining Derby, Tyrese came through the Reading and Nottingham Forest academies and made his debut for Forest against Chelsea in the FA Cup in January 2020.
Before a permanent move to Derby, the experienced midfielder had loan spells at Casa Pia, Plymouth Argyle and Reading.
In November 2023 the 24-year-old received his first international call-up for Sierra Leone. Now he is aiming to come and make an impression at The Ammies’ Peninsula Stadium.
Tyrese said: “I’m a ball player, I like to get forward, carry the ball, be exciting. That’s my strength and hopefully I can show that consistently for the club. I like to intercept the ball, win the ball back, but also I’m a forward-thinking player; I like to carry the ball forwards, be exciting and show my ability on the ball.
“It’s about smiling, enjoying football and being on the pitch, that’s why I play football, to have moments expressing myself and helping my team win three points and winning is an enjoyable thing, but playing with a smile on your face that’s what it’s all about. I want to share that joy with the fans, have some good moments and hopefully it’ll be a promotion-winning year so that’s why I’ve come here.
“The club’s ambition is to go up which is exactly my ambition, I think this is a team that’s more than capable of getting promoted. I think with the lads, the quality that I’ve seen in the team, the game I watched last night, there’s plenty of ability and potential to definitely achieve this year. That’s their ambition, it’s mine, so let’s get going!”
