Two people have been arrested after a 57-year-old man died from reportedly falling off a balcony last night in Salford. 

Police have arrested a 37-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.

At 8:42pm last night (Sunday August 11) police were called to reports that a man had fallen off a balcony on the fourth floor on Black Friar Court off Simon Street in Salford.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 57-year-old man was sadly pronounced deceased at hospital.

A scene remains in place whilst the police conduct further enquiries.

Whilst police remain at the scene, speaking with residents and conducting extensive CCTV trawls, they are urging any members of the public who may have been in the area, or at the address, on Sunday August 11 to come forward.

Detective Inspector David Ogden from our Salford district said: “We know the community will be concerned about this tragic death, and we share their concern.

“We’re appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to us. Please don’t assume that what you know is already known to us. The smallest piece of information may be crucial to our investigation and towards getting answers for this man’s family.”
