Community groups in Salford and Manchester have been commended for the ‘transformative’ work they do for the community.
The groups from across Salford, Bolton and Wigan came together last week for two celebratory picnics on July 31 and August 1.
The picnics, which ran from 11am to 1pm on both days, provided a platform for these community champions to share their experiences, highlight their achievements, and foster new collaborations. Organisations such as Mustard Tree and Community Little Hulton attended the celebration.
The Mayor of Bolton and the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford also attended the events.
Councillor Tanya Burch, the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, said “It was fantastic to visit the picnic and meet people from our community groups and thank them for their hard work.
“It is important that our vital community groups are celebrated as they make such a huge difference to people’s lives. Our areas would not be the same without their hard work and dedication in making their communities better places to live.”
Other groups who attended the picnics include Urban Outreach, Sapphire, Fort Alice and Wigan’s Community Connection team from Forever Manchester.
The event was hosted by family-owned construction contractor Seddon at their Plodder Lane offices in Bolton.
