A floating hotel could dock at Salford Quays in new, unique plans unveiled today.

The Good Hospitality Group unveiled the plans today (July 26) for the floating hotel which will sit immediately to the north of the Lowry Theatre.

If approved, the hotel will supposedly become a ‘new landmark’ at the North Bay, contributing to the ongoing regeneration of Salford Quays.

Comprising 180 guest rooms, the hotel will include an open-plan living room, bar and restaurant which will be open to both the public and hotel guests.

Founded by Marten Dresen in 2013, The Good Hospitality Group operates on a unique model. They claim that instead of focusing on profits, their social impact business reinvests earnings into education, training and supporting local businesses.

Their mission, “Sleep good. Do good,” reflects their belief that hotels should ‘be both beautiful and beneficial to the communities they serve’.

The Group claims they consider ‘community impact’ through their ‘Good Training Programme’ which will supposedly offer ‘local residents secure long-term employment opportunities’.

The Good Hospitality already have floating hotels in London’s Royal Docks, Antigua and Guatemala City.

Marten Dresen, Founder of The Good Hospitality Group, said: “We are hugely excited to bring our floating Good Hotel concept to Salford Quays: a thriving tourist and commercial destination.

“We will collaborate with local partners and establish a successful training programme, mirroring the success we have experienced in London where hundreds of trainees have so far completed our Good Training Programme. As we prepare to submit our plans, we’re committed to providing meaningful opportunities for local residents, helping them secure long-term employment and contributing positively to the community.”

Ahead of submitting a planning application, local residents are being asked to view and comment on the proposals.
