Police have detailed the arrest of a man at Light Oaks Junior School on suspicion of ‘communication with a child’.
The police stated that officers visited Light Oaks Junior School on June 19 and arrested the 31-year-old man on suspicion of communicating with a child.
Police confirmed the child concerned does not attend the school and a spokesperson for the school said there were ‘no safeguarding concerns surrounding the school’.
A spokesperson at Light Oaks Junior School said: “Police attended the school on Wednesday morning and made an arrest. Officers reassured the school there were no safeguarding concerns surrounding the school.
“We are working with police and staff while also supporting parents to address concerns at this time. It is clearly inappropriate to comment further while the police are looking into this matter.”
The suspect has been released on bail while the investigation continues.
A statement from the police read: “At 8.30am on Wednesday 19 June, we attended a premises on Lancaster Road in Salford. A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of communication with a child. He remains in police custody for questioning.
“This arrest is in connection with a disclosure that police received on Friday June 14. Safeguarding measures have been put in place for the child, who is not connected to Lancaster Road, and we are working closely with specialist officers and partner organisations to ensure they receive the support they need.”
