A dedicated graduate from The University of Salford will be one of the lead commentators for the European Football Championship this year.
The 27-year-old, Pien Meulensteen, who is the daughter of a former Manchester United coach, began her broadcasting career at BBC Manchester whilst studying Broadcast Journalism at The University of Salford.
Since graduating, Pien went on to become the first female to commentate on a live Premier League match in Britain for Sky Sports in 2023.
Pien has worked for major broadcasters including Sky Sports and BBC Sport and is rapidly becoming a notable figure within the industry.

Pein is the daughter of former United coach Rene Meulensteen. Rene had two spells at the club, before leaving in 2013 following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
Pein will join Sam Matterface, Clive Tyldesley, Seb Hutchinson and Joe Speight as one of ITV’s lead commentators live from the stadiums of the Euros.
Paul Duckworth, lecturer at The University of Salford for Broadcast Journalism, said: “ITVSport have made a great decision getting Pien signed up for Euro 2024. Since graduating, Pien’s gone from milestone to milestone, breaking barriers down along the way.

There will be ‘bespoke content’ around the European tournament from ITV, this includes mini-highlights of every fixture.
