Salford residents have been invited to enjoy another year of free Tuesday entry to RHS Garden Bridgewater.
The free entry scheme has now been extended till May 2025 in order to celebrate the garden’s third year anniversary.
Salford Mayor Paul Dennett said: “Local people have really connected with the garden, and I would urge anybody who has not been to take a visit to this great asset on their doorstep, which can be accessed on the RHS Greenway on foot or by bike.”
Since the Worsley garden opened in May 2021, more than 61,000 Salfordians have taken advantage of the free entry day to explore the 154-acre grounds and garden centre.
In total, RHS Bridgewater has welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors and thousands of local schoolchildren have benefitted from its green learning resources.
The council donated around £19 million to transform the Victorian estate beside the Bridgewater Canal into a series of stunning formal gardens, surrounded by extensive woodlands and lovely lakeside walks. It represents one of the largest horticultural projects undertaken in Europe in recent years.
Richard Green, Head of RHS Garden Bridgewater said: “Over the last three years, the RHS’s fifth national garden has gone from strength to strength. Our extensive formal gardens, meadows, woodland and orchard are looking better than ever, and the introduction of the Music Pavilion in the Chinese Streamside Garden looks simply brilliant.
“I am particularly delighted that nearly a quarter of Salford people have enjoyed a free visit here since we opened. It is great that we have been welcomed with open arms by our city neighbours and we hope many more local residents will take advantage of the free Tuesday entry over the next year.”
Entry to RHS Garden Bridgewater usually costs £15.85 for adults and £7.95 for children (age 5-16). RHS members and guests can enter for free. Until 18 May 2025, entrance is free for Salford residents every Tuesday.
Pre-booking is required and proof of address for each resident must be shown on arrival.
