The up-and-coming Salford boxer Alex Murphy is looking to move his undefeated record to 11-0 this April.
The young 23-year-old boxer has announced he will be fighting on the ‘Ring Warriors Unleashed’ show on April 27 at The Bowlers Exhibition Centre.
The orthodox boxer was last out in November of last year when he won his 10th fight taking his record to an undefeated 10 – 0 as a professional boxer with a dominating win on points, 60 – 54 over six rounds on November 24.
He said “I’m buzzing, just before Christmas I thought I had fight news but in January it fell through. I was just waiting but now I’ve got it, it’s a relief.”
Fans can expect fireworks from the Salfordian as he has been working hard home and away whilst being out of the ring.
He took a 3,321 mile trip over to New York to work on his craft.
“It was unreal,” he said. “It was a great experience, five nights, I got three spars in two different gyms it was nice to get used to the atmosphere there and the way they train it was a valuable experience.”
After a bursting schedule for 2023, with five fights and five wins, Alex looks forward to a hopeful 2024.
Alex added: “If I can be as busy as that I will be happy. Four is definitely doable I want to be busy I don’t want any less then four. As they say a busy fighter is a dangerous fighter and that’s how I felt last year. I felt good and every fight I improved.”
The boxer, out of Eccles Boxing school, has been swopping the rain for the plane during his down time training
“I’ve been spending my time off doing a few little trips to New York in January in for training , Lanzarote for training, I’ve done Istanbul and a few others.
“It’s good to keep changing my environment. I prefer working in the sun, it’s good I’ve been learning new things in the gym whilst I’m ticking over filled with sparing.”
Alex could be one of the most exciting prospects coming out of Salford boasting a 10 – 0 record.
Alex added: “What a weight on my shoulders but I am happy to carry that weight and it’s good I’m doing something right. There is a lot more to come but I will carry that flag no problem.”
For Alex, the die-hard Bolton Wanderers fan, April 27 was already in his mind before he knew he would be lacing up the gloves.
He said: It’s unfortunate on the ticket aspect as a lot of Bolton fans come to watch me fight and a lot of them will be there.
“I hope the game doesn’t solely lie on our promotion and we know what’s happening so it’s not as big as it is, so people can come and watch me fight ”
Alex is a loved man in and around the Bolton fan base, Alex is hoping “anyone who can’t make that trip to Peterborough can enjoy a full day of it.”
“Watch the game at home then in the evening they can come out and watch me do the business and it will hopefully be a good day for Bolton fans,” Alex said.
Alex has already in the space of less than 48 hours had a huge amount of fans asking for tickets on the announcement post.
Come next Saturday the fans can expect a show at Bowlers Exhibition Centre as Alex puts on a display of new polished skills
Alex said there will be an “improved, better performance from what they already know” of him.
He added: “I’m just improving and I like to think I’m an exciting fighter, very busy fighter on the front foot and a fan pleaser in that sense.
“Those who haven’t watched me before will be in for an exciting fight and everybody who has watched me already knows what I’m about that’s why they keep coming.”
Alex said he is fighting on the small hall show on Black Flash Promotions.
“I think the small hall shows are great they are massive. I like the look of the Black Flash shows with the press conference and the weigh-ins for us as boxers it puts us out there in the lime light and getting us recognised.
“It is all about us building our profiles for us to get on the big TV platforms and the small hall shows to help us break on to that TV stage and hopefully it won’t be long until I’m breaking onto that TV stage.”
Alex will be taking part in the media day for ‘Ring Warriors Unleashed’ next Wednesday at the Royal Vida night club in Manchester (M3 4BQ) . This is open to the public and is free to attend it is running from 1pm – 3pm with all boxers on the card being present.
If anyone would still like to purchase tickets they can do so through Alex’s Instagram account.
