The Lowry will present Kiss Marry Kill this May, a dramatic retelling of a real-life love story between two prison inmates from Dante or Die.
Co-directed by Daphna Attias and Terry O’Donovan, Kiss Marry Kill tells the story of characters Jay (Dauda Ladejobi) and Paul (Graham Mackay Bruce).
Announcing KISS MARRY KILL💋🤵🏾🔪
Jay and Paul are both serving life sentences for homophobic murders. Incredibly, they fall in love & seek permission to marry. Inspired by real-life events, this is a provocative new play that reimagines the first same-sex wedding in a UK prison. pic.twitter.com/KakUuLXeaa— Dante or Die (@danteordie) November 9, 2023
Jay and Paul are imprisoned for homophobic murders, but they fall in love with each other and seek permission to marry.
The production challenges the audience’s preconceptions about sexuality and the justice system.
Joining the cast also includes Morgan Archer (Chaplain), rapper Lady Lykez (Kerry), Frank Skully (Governor) and Dean Statham (Ali).
Kiss Marry Kill will tour chapels around the UK, including Kent, London, Reading and Norwich.
The Lowry will present the production at Halle St Peter’s from May 10 until May 12.
