Ten food outlets across Salford have been given a one-star hygiene rating so far this year.
The below establishments all received a rating of ‘one’ after being visited by the Food Standards Agency.
This rating means that major improvements are necessary. For example, if there are a number of breaches to food hygiene and a lack of training among staff.
A business will receive a one rating if it scores between 45 and 50 points.
Andy’s Off Licence
Andy’s Off Licence on 34 Edmund Street received a one star hygiene rating when the food agency visited on February 20.
The agency concluded the cleanliness and condition of facilities needed to be improved. This includes having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good hygiene. Major improvements are needed to establish the management of food safety.
The inspection did conclude that Andy’s Off Licence however work to a ‘Very Good’ standard in terms of preparing, cooking, re-heating and storing food.

Bana Cafe and Restaurant
Bana Cafe and Restaurant on Bury Old Road was given a one star hygiene rating when the Food Standards Agency visited on January 18.
The agency concluded that major improvements are necessary to establish a high standard of cleanliness in the building. There also needs to be a system to ensure food sold or served is safe to eat.
The inspection further concluded that food handling was generally satisfactory. This relates to preparing, cooking, re-heating and storing food.

BBQ Village
The restaurant BBQ Village, also on Bury Old Road, was given a one star hygiene rating when the agency visited on January 16.
The inspection concluded that major improvements are to be made to food handling and the management of food safety within the building. The cleanliness and condition of facilities in the building also need to be improved.

Brunch Munch Cafe
Brunch Munch Cafe, in the Salford Precinct in Pendleton, received a one star hygiene rating on February 13.
The report stated that improvements are necessary to bring the cleanliness and condition of facilities in the building up to a high standard. Major improvements are also needed to ensure food safety is efficiently managed.
Brunch Munch Cafe was however given a ‘Good’ rating for preparation, cooking, re-heating and storing of food.

Butterfly Cafe Bar on Church Street in Eccles was given a one star hygiene rating on January 9.
The report stated that major improvements are needed to ensure food safety is being efficiently managed. There are also improvements needed to safely manage the preparation, cooking, re-heating and storing of food.
The report did conclude that the cleanliness of the facilities in the building was overall ‘Good’ however.

Chungs Chippy on Oldfield Road received a one star hygiene rating on February 20.
The report established that there are necessary improvements to be made on the preparing, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food to ensure its safety. There are also improvements needed to ensure the facilities in the building are clean.

Duke of York
The Duke of York pub on Church Street in Eccles was given a one star hygiene rating on February 21.
The inspection concluded that major improvements are needed to ensure the safety of the food is being efficiently managed. There are also improvements needed to ensure the facilities in the building are clean.
However, their handling of food was rated as ‘Generally satisfactory’.

The restaurant Ground Zero MCR on Great Cheetham Street East was given a one star rating on January 30.
It’s handling of food and the cleanliness of facilities in the building were found to be ‘Generally Satisfactory’. However the report concluded that major improvements are necessary to ensure food safety is being efficiently managed.

The Indian restaurant on Chorley Road in Swinton was given a one star rating on January 17.
The report concluded that major improvements are needed regarding food handling. There are also improvements necessary to ensure the food is safely managed.
The cleanliness of the facilities in the building was rated as ‘Generally satisfactory’.

The food manufacture Kesser Ltd on Limefield Road was given a one star rating on February 1.
The overall food handling at the establishment was rated as ‘Good’ however major improvements are necessary to ensure the food is safely managed. There are also improvements to be made to ensure the cleanliness of the facilities within the building.
