Former boxing champions Jamie Moore and Michael Brodie attended a “massive” Easter donation event in Salford today (March 26).
Hundreds of Easter eggs and various other supplies were handed into the Bridgewater Security Boxing Club on Cobden Street as part of an initiative to help smaller charity groups in Salford.
The Bridgewater team will donate the supplies to charitable community groups in Salford so they can efficiently help the families they support during this time.
Ex-British, European and Commonwealth number one Michael Brodie attended the event today and said “it feels brilliant to help out.”
Jamie Moore, who previously held British and Commonwealth super welterweight titles, also attended the donation event today. He said: “I’ve been involved with it for a few years now and it’s obviously a fantastic community initiative, the guys are always giving back.
“I love stuff like this, it’s worth its weight in gold, you can’t put a price on how much stuff like this means to kids whose families can’t afford things.
“It’s the best feeling you can get I think.”
Admired community volunteer and founder of Step Into Action Gemma Fish helped organise the donation event. She said that this Easter donation is particularly important as most of the donations come from Salford-based organisations.
The organisations, Salboy, DOMIS, Seddon and many more all worked together to contribute to the huge donation.
Gemma explained: “It brings everybody together from the corporate side and also the community side, it opens up everybody eyes to the need within Salford and the community.”
“Yes it is just an Easter egg, but for that one child who might not be able to get an Easter egg it’s a massive, massive thing.”

Director of Bridgewater Security, Mark Mullen, also commented: “It’s good to get people together, to let people know what is going on in the area and to let people know how we help out.
“It’s great that everyone can come together to help the underprivileged in the area.”
