Irlam FC are hosting a monthly veterans coffee morning to give back to the community after a successful turn out this March.
The coffee morning encourages veterans to come to the hub where hot food and drinks will be served.
The coffee morning further includes a bacon butty, a drink, a chat and even a chance to watch Irlam play later on.
With over 20 veterans turning up for the first coffee morning, the club are wanting to increase this number next month.
Lee Hilton, the chairman of Irlam FC has been putting this event together for 18 months to create a social and safe environment for veterans.
He said: “It became apparent 18 months ago around Remembrance Sunday, that it was needed to create the hub and give back to the veterans.”
Irlam FC consistently host events to show their appreciation for the wider community of Salford.
On the most recent veterans day, the players walked the veterans onto the pitch and did a guard of honor.
Hilton added: ” The players and the club are so proud to welcome such groups and do something for them.”
For a non-league football team, Irlam FC have built up a large community and family.
With them reaching 250 spectators against Bury the club is at its finest.
Hilton described Irlam as “non-league football at its best” and encourages anyone and everyone to come for a game.
The widely supported football team cannot thank the community enough for the support they have received.
They have received help from volunteers, veterans and the community to build and grow their club.
Lee stated: “We all want to give a huge thank you to the community, volunteers and the donations from local companies.
“To see it finally take off and see smiles on faces is great.”
Lee Hilton and the rest of Irlam FC are emphasising that the hub and the club welcomes anyone.
The next coffee morning is provisionally set for April 20 but still needs to be confirmed.
Lee urges that if anyone wants to help out or get involved with volunteering or the coffee morning, call him on – 07982 239607.
