Police are investigating after a speeding driver crashed their car in Salford and then stole a taxi at knifepoint to flee.
Police were called to a theft of a car on Regent Road in Salford at around 9.20pm last Friday.
Before this, an initial incident was reported of a vehicle travelling at speed which resulted in a four-vehicle road traffic collision in Salford.
Injuries suffered by those at the scene were not life-threatening.
A nearby taxi was then taken violently, with the taxi driver threatened at knifepoint on the main road. The taxi driver was told to hand over the keys before heading towards the City Centre. The driver received injuries that were also not life-threatening.
Later that evening, at around 11pm a suspected vehicle was stopped in the West Midlands on the M42.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
