McLaren & Co Barbering, Hair Replacements & Aesthetics, an Eccles salon, has been shortlisted for Best Male Aesthetics of the Year award at the IAA.
The salon, which named as UK Barber of the Year at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2023, was set up by Ian Anthony McLaren, 37, just under two years ago.
Ian, who is from Eccles, built the salon from scratch after working in the Hairdressing and Barbering industry for 21 years, with the mindset of: “everything has to be done right, correctly and by the books.”
He is also a Professional CPD Certified, Fully Insured and Qualified Advanced Practitioner, specialised in all forms of gents grooming, barbering and styling as well as hair replacement systems, and aesthetics treatments.
Since then, they have become a huge hit with the local people of Eccles as well as all over the UK and Ireland. They have rave reviews from customers such as: “Cannot fault whatsoever. Now that I have discovered Ian, me and my son won’t be going anywhere else.”
Their success comes from being, as Ian said: “one of the few places in Manchester that offers everything all in one place.”
Unsurprisingly, they have been nominated and the Eccles salon has now become finalists for the International Aesthetic Awards.
Small businesses like Ian’s are greatly empowered by awards like these, as he said: “Winning these awards has made such a difference to my business, literally getting so many more new clients through the door, which is motivating me even more to extend my business and expand.”
Ian has also focused on offering a space for men’s aesthetic treatments as well as women’s as there is a lack of this. He added: “We don’t know why there is a stigma around men getting aesthetics treatments, such as Botox. Women have been doing it for years, and if they can do it, why can’t men?”
They are incredibly grateful to be a finalist for an International Award. Ian added: ” I am really proud as it’s a massive compliment, and it’s nice to know that I must be doing something right.”
To be a finalist for an International Award is a huge honour for Ian. He said: “It would be so good to bring it home to Eccles, and it is something that I’m really passionate about.
“I would also like to say thank you to our other neighbours on Church Street Eccles including the Quinn family at The Station Bar, the Kelly family at The Confetti Box, and Dave and Jenny at The Northern Type. We all promote and support each other, as it should be.”
The awards ceremony will take place on April 21 at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. In preparation, Ian said: “I suppose I better start my diet now, so I can squeeze my bum back into my black tuxedo.”
Their details and pictures of their work is on their Facebook and Instagram.
