A local home care company successfully delivered over 500 gifts to older adults who may be feeling lonely this Christmas.

The Home Instead Salford and Worsley company admitted they were surprised by the “tremendous support” from the Salford community who donated the gifts in this year’s ‘Be a Santa’ campaign.

As a company that supports older people in their own homes, Home Instead admitted they often see that Christmas can be a challenging time, with many spending it alone. Their ‘Be a Santa’ campaign was designed to combat this and so far, has been very successful.

Susan Robinson, owner of the care home company, said: “The overwhelming community support for the ‘Be a Santa’ campaign shows just how much kindness and generosity there is amongst the people of Salford and Worsley.

“Seeing organisations and local groups get involved with this campaign is truly heart-warming, as their contributions reflect how we can all play a part in making someone’s Christmas extra special.

“We understand that Christmas can be a difficult time of year for many, but together, we can spread smiles and warmth through thoughtful gifts, ensuring everyone feels the magic of Christmas!”

The home care company received over 500 donations which were then wrapped and distributed to local charities such as Age UK, the Agnes Hopkins Centre, Salford CVS Connectors, The Big Life Group and All Saints Church.

The Christmas campaign has also found an inspiring collaboration with local knitting groups who have come together to create handcrafted items for the ‘Be a Santa’ campaign.
