An Advent calendar to spread kindness has been created by a company aiming to boost the mental wellbeing of young people in Salford by talking about sensitive topics and tackling self-esteem issues.
Body Mind Educate (BME) has produced the calendar to give back to people in the community who may be struggling during the Christmas period.
BME founder Rebecca Marshall said the aim is to deliver 12 gifts of kindness over 12 nights from December 13-24.
She said: “We are hoping for any donations from local businesses to use in the gift baskets or any small monetary donations via the Go Fund Me page.”
Any donations to the project will be collected and used to create gift baskets to surprise someone within the communities of Salford, Manchester and Bolton.
Marshall worked in youth services for 12 years and has been an outreach advanced education practitioner for the NHS for the last six.
She said: “I believe this year we are all feeling the pressure financially and there are thousands struggling due to the cost of living crisis. Add the pressure of working, having festive events to attend and obligations such as visiting relatives, there is no doubt that many in our community will struggle even more this year.
“Let’s hope we can bring the community and the festive spirt together and spread love and kindness to those who need it most.”
