Conor McAleny is hopeful that Salford City can get back on the right track when they travel to Bradford City this weekend.
The Ammies had a winless November, but the midfielder believes that the team are “in gear and ready” ahead of their match at Valley Parade on Saturday.
A familiar foe is in the dugout for the Bantams, with ex-Salford boss Graham Alexander taking charge last month. He brought Salford great success, winning promotion to League Two and an EFL Trophy final victory against Portsmouth in his time at the Peninsula Stadium.
The ex-Scotland international has had a good start to life in West Yorkshire, winning four of their last five games, including a 5-1 rout of League One Barnsley.

McAleny is positive about the Ammies chances on Saturday, saying: “I’ve played against a few of Graham Alexander’s teams and they all do the same thing. It’s very high energy, we know we’ve got to go there and quieten the crowd the first 20 minutes.
“The main aim is to get as many points as we can from this month and we’re gonna do that game by game, and that starts on Saturday. We’re in gear and ready.”
Neil Wood’s side have had over a week to prepare for the clash, after a valiant defensive show kept League Two leaders Stockport to a goalless draw at Edgeley Park.
Reflecting on the performance, the Liverpudlian said: “We had a lot of lads out, the young ones that came in were brilliant, and we grounded out the draw, which a lot of teams haven’t been able to do. It was a good night, but our focus is on Bradford now.
“A clean sheet was brilliant, but doing it there meant a little bit more. We’ve been under the cosh for part of the game but the lads defended brilliantly.
“Cairnsy made some top saves as well, kept us in it. Keeping a clean sheet is a confidence booster.”
The 31-year-old midfielder also discussed the benefits the 8-day break has had on the squad. He added: “We got a long weekend off, it’s a good opportunity to give the lads a little break and come in a lot more refreshed.”

The trip to Bradford marks the halfway point of Salford’s 2023/24 season, with the Ammies having struggled in the league and currently sit in 18th place.
McAleny looked back on the team’s campaign so far, commenting: “It’s been up and down, we’d like to be a lot higher. If you get momentum in this league, you can climb the table pretty fast.
“There’s a lot of games left and the aim for us doesn’t change. We are where we are, We’ve gotten ourselves into this situation.
“It’s up to us as players and everyone involved in the squad to get out of it. It is what it is, football is never plain sailing.”
Salford City travel to Bradford City this weekend, with kick off at Valley Parade at 3pm on Saturday December 9.
