The Eccles-based football club are looking for aspiring coaches to help the second team who play in the Manchester Football League Divison Four, or Reserve Division Two.
With one of the former coaches leaving in September, the club offered the role to former players and friends of the club. After struggling to find someone to take on the role, Eccles United have taken to social media to reach a larger number of potential candidates.
As an amateur football club, Eccles United do not expect any who apply to have a large amount of coaching experience or high level training due to the job being primarily voluntary.
Club chairman Ashley Croft said they are looking for a coach probably aged between 18 and 25 who can fit into the age range of the lads who might want to go into coaching as a career.
Croft said: “We’re a young club ourselves. They won’t get anything for it, apart from a win on a Saturday.”
Previously known as Eccles Borough, the team played in the FA Cup more than 100 years ago and aim to represent their town in any way they can. The first and second team train together most weeks and play their home matches on the weekends at Moat Hall Sports Centre, which is the home of the Salford Roosters’ Rugby League team.
The club have asked for any people interested in the role to message them on X.
