Free Christmas parking has returned at selected car parks throughout the city over the Winter period in a bid to support local businesses.
The car parks include the Church Street car park in Swinton, the car park on John William Street, Irwell Place, St Mary’s Road and Corporation Road, which are all in Eccles.
Hankinson Way Pay and Display at Salford shopping centre will also be made free along with the park in Partington Street in Monton.
Visitors and residents can use selected pay and display car parks in the city to explore Salford and visit local restaurants, bars and shops.
The free parking will be available on Saturday December 9, Saturday December 16 of and Saturday December 23.
The mayor of Salford City Council stated: “As we approach the festive season, we must support our local businesses.
“We hope our decision to provide free parking at some of our council-run car parks encourages people to shop local and support our fantastic Salford businesses.”
However one business owner at Salford shopping centre had a contrasting view saying: “I don’t think it’ll make an ounce of difference, the parking here is already free for three hours so it won’t help business much.”
