Last year’s event saw England women’s footballer Beth Mead take home the award, celebrating the England team’s European Championships victory.
This year eight awards will be delivered on the night, including Sports Personality of the Year, World Sport Star of the Year, Unsung Hero award and the Lifetime Achievement award.
2023 has been a strong year in sport for the UK, with the Lionesses reaching the Women’s World Cup final, as well as the Rugby Union side missing out on their final, losing to South Africa.
It was disappointment for Salford’s sports teams with play-off heartbreak for Salford City, whilst the Red Devils missed out on the Super League’s top six on the final day.
The nominees for this year’s awards have not been announced, but members of the public can now apply for tickets to the event through the BBC Shows and Tours website.
Viewers at home will be able to vote for their Sports Personality of the Year on the night.
