A community group in Little Hulton is holding a toy appeal to give children across Salford a memorable Christmas.
This will be the 8th year that CommUNITY Little Hulton is holding the appeal, after breaking records last year with 786 toy packages delivered to children of all ages across Walkden and Little Hulton.
The toy packages include a main present, a little puzzle or game and some chocolate.
Emma who works for CommUNITY Little Hulton and is on her 3rd toy appeal, said: “Our aim is to help take that stress off of parents during the Christmas period.”
The drive is the biggest event that CommUNITY Little Hulton, based at Hulton District Centre, holds during the festive period with several other events on such as foodbanks and offering free meals at a café morning.
The toy drive works through referrals from schools and social services who give suggestions on who they think should get a toy package and the ‘elves’ then create it.
Local businesses and vendors also make the effort to contribute and donate but CommUNITY Little Hulton say they need a bit more of a push.
Emma stated: “Everything goes, nothing is left in the building at the end of it”.
CommUNITY Little Hulton are asking for the community to come together and donate whatever they can for children aged 0-16 such as toys, colouring pencils and even sweets.
Emma said: “Salford’s amazing, even people who don’t have much help; we are a community.”
“If you can make someone’s life just a tiny bit better it makes it all worthwhile.”
The drop off location for the appeal is at Little Hulton Big Local, 27-29 Hulton District Centre, M28 0BA and they are accepting donations until Wednesday 13th December.
