Eccles Community Art Gallery has revealed their end of year exhibition featuring work from a number of local artists.

The annual exhibition is set to run until the turn of the new year in Eccles Community Art Gallery, located in Eccles Shopping Centre.

Elaine McCann, of Eccles Community Art Gallery, said: “The Christmas/New Year Exhibition is a little different from the rest of the year’s work for a few reasons.

“The gallery fulfils the purpose of not only providing an exhibition for local people to visit but also supports local artists and crafters – enabling them to exhibit their work – and hopefully sell it – at a price they can afford when they couldn’t afford to exhibit in larger galleries.”

Visitors are able to see work from local artists such as David Morgan, Irene Morgan, Barbara Thomas, Derek Croft, Ged Buckley and George Lee.

As well as this, Bolton Art Circle will also be exhibiting work, providing a variety of art and something for everyone to see.

There are also handmade items from local craftspeople on display, alongside Christmas cards and other seasonal items.

This year, the gallery suspended exhibition fees and instead encouraged their exhibitors to bring in food and toiletries items for a donation to Salford Loaves and Fishes – a homeless support organisation.

All money paid to purchase any of the works goes directly to the artists and craftspeople.

McCann went on to say: “I think it’s important to point out here that the gallery is a Community Gallery, run completely by volunteers.”

When asked how people can support the artists and the gallery, she said: “Come into the gallery, look at the work, buy stuff if you want to, talk to the artists and volunteers, they love talking about their work.”

“And this Christmas, feel free to bring a small item to donate to our Loaves and Fishes appeal if you want to – but we’re aware that everyone supports their own charities so we’re not in the least bit offended if you don’t.”

The gallery is open every Friday from 12pm to 2pm and every Saturday from 10am to 2pm. See Eccles Community Art Gallery on Facebook.
