The UK’s first multi-charity pop-up store has opened in the Quayside Shopping Centre in MediaCity.
The doors opened on Thursday (November 2) and allowed Salford citizens to purchase a range of vintage clothing and second hand garments from multiple charities.
This is the first time national and local charities including AgeUK, St Vincent de Paul Society, All Abroad and many more have come together to create a multi-charity store for shoppers.
The pop-up in the Quayside centre is open until December 13.
The demand for sustainable fashion has now made shopping for second-hand clothes the best performing retail category in the UK.
Wayne Hemingway MBE, one of the co-founders of Charity Super.Mkt, said mainstream fashion and thrifting are like “chalk and cheese”.
He said: “Fashion is changing as are the desires of younger shoppers who are more conscious than ever on the impact their spending has on the planet.
“The North of England has always been strong on community support and charity so we’re incredibly proud to opening here for the first time.”
Charity Super.Mkt has already made a difference by selling more than 100,000 second hand items as well as preventing 30,000kg clothing going to landfill.
