A Salford charity is advertising special Halloween posters to help those who are vulnerable or elderly have a more comfortable Halloween.
Gaddum, an organisation that offers support to carers and their families in all areas of the city, made an ‘X’ post on Monday encouraging followers to download the ‘No Trick or Treat’ paper.
The poster, which sports a friendly-looking pumpkin with a ‘cancel’ sign over it and the font: “No trick or treating here thank you”, was originally made by Wink Design and Michelle Lancaster.
Along with a link to the poster, Gaddum suggested that it would help people if they were anxious about people “knocking on their door this Halloween.”

Matthew Shiel, a representative of the charity, said: “Quite a lot of people are living on their own and might not have the backup of somebody else if someone knocks on the door.
“They may get frightened by people they don’t know at the door, it could just make (them) feel a little bit more vulnerable at that time, not knowing who’s knocking.”
He also urged Salford residents to be mindful of the houses they may be frequenting during the spooky season; he said: “For anyone who is trick or treating, I know it can be fun, but I think you’ve just got to be alert.
“If somebody doesn’t answer the door and you see the light on, don’t take it as an offense, it just might be that that person’s quite frightened at that time.
“Just be weary that somebody in that household might be having a difficult circumstance or maybe feeling alone or caring for somebody.”
The poster is free to download, and it is recommended that it be placed on garden gates or doors to make people aware that the designated house does not want their house infringed upon.
