Bonfire night events in Salford are expected to double in popularity this year as Manchester City Council cancel their events for the fourth year running.
Manchester City Council have implied that due to the sizeable costs of running bonfire night events, the organised festivals will not go ahead for 2023.
Although many of Manchester bonfire night events have been cancelled, Salford is hosting a range of dazzling firework displays that are set to double in size due to the cancellations.
Clifton Cricket Club in Swinton are expecting their bonfire night on Saturday November 4 to be the busiest year they’ve had yet, having already sold 800 tickets.
Committee Event Organiser, Steven Judge, 48, said: “Obviously it’s a shame that they’ve cancelled the events but it’s probably good news for us at Clifton.
“We’ve got an event with lots of food, entertainment and drink and so as an alternative people should come along and buy tickets for us.”
Other firework displays at Buile Hill Park and Prince’s Park are also set to heavily liven up this year following the cancellations.
Steven added: “It’s something that only comes a long once a year, the families from the local community really sort of enjoy the occasion and get a chance to get out together.”
