Here are five events Salford CVS has listed to celebrate Black History Month this October.
CAHN – Annual Awards and BHM Fundraising Gala 2023
The Caribbean & African Health Network will be hosting it’s sixth annual gala taking place on Saturday October 28 at the Lancashire Cricket Club. The gala features an awards presentation, a three course meal, and an auction.
Date: Saturday October 28, 6pm-late
Venue: Lancashire Cricket Club.
Black History Month Celebration – Lusoconnection UK
Lusoconnection UK are hosting a “jam packed” day event in Media City that features talks and testimonies, basketball, music, dancing, arts and African food.
Date: Saturday October 28, 12pm-6pm
Venue: Oasis Academy, Media City, King William Street, Salford, M50 3UQ
Community Support Centre – Free Intercultural Diversity Social Event
The Community Support Centre is celebrating Black History Month with their Intercultural Diversity Social Event at the Clarendon Leisure centre. The event features cultural music, dance, colouring, drawing as well as free African food and drink.
Date: Sunday November 5, 1pm-4pm

Women with Wings CIC – Black History Month Celebration
Salford CVS are collaborating with Wings CIC to throw a celebration event that focuses on women’s achievements. The event includes live singing, food and free health advice.
Date: Friday October 27, 11am-3pm
Venue: St. Paul’s Peel Parish Hall, Little Hulton M38 9EG
Ballet Black: Pioneers
On Tuesday October 31 The Lowry will showcase Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Black: Pioneers. The performance showcases choreography from the likes of Will Tuckett and Mthuthuzeli.

Salford CVS stated on their website: “Black people have always been at the forefront of social justice movements, fighting against oppression and paving the way for change.
“However, despite their countless contributions to society, the achievements of black women, in particular, have too often been overlooked or forgotten.
“That is why, this year, we will be celebrating the exceptional achievements of black women.”
