Buile Hill and Boothsbanks Park’s tennis court renovations have been completed and opened by the Sports Minister.
Sports Minister, Stuart Andrew, opened Buile Hill’s newly renovated tennis court on Sunday (17 September), along with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Salford Mayor, Paul Dennett and local councillors, Charlotte Youd and Alexis Sharma.
The renovations comes after an investment of more than £660,000 was used renovate eight tennis courts across Salford, alongside free coaching sessions, in a joint partnership between Salford City Council and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
Albert Park, Boothsbank Park, Buile Hill Park, Eccles Recreation Ground, Lightoaks Park, Parr Fold Park, Princes Park and Victoria Park are the eight parks which are set to benefit from the funding.
Garry Bateman, Head of Leisure at SCL said: “The very first public park was in Salford and it’s been a privilege to have played a part in bringing about this renovation of our parks tennis courts and offering great facilities for people to take part in the sport of tennis. We can’t wait for the rest of the Salford courts to be finished and handed over to Salford Community Leisure so we can open them for bookings.”
