Salford’s Grade-II listed historic bridge control tower has been sold at a £120,000, totalling £70,000 more than its original asking price.
The Trafford Road Bridge Control Tower, which was formerly used to control the Trafford Road Bridge, was auctioned on an online event hosted by Auction House North West on Wednesday, September 7.
Earning £70,000 more than it’s original asking price of £50,000, the three storey building was auctioned alongside properties from across the North-West, including Cleveleys and Horwich.
The future use of the property is not yet known.
The building dates back to 1894, with the bridge connecting Salford Docks on one side of the Manchester Ship Canal with Trafford Park Industrial Estate.
The bridge was the largest and heaviest of the seven bridges across the canal, which marked as the third busiest port in the world post-WWII.
