A series of fun days have been organised by Salford’s community hubs to give local people the chance to find out about the support on offer for families.
Irlam and Cadishead, Broughton, Little Hulton, and Swinton family hubs will be hosting the free fun days throughout August with activities from a mini zoo, balloon modelling to face painting.
Support workers from early help services will be providing messy play, and arts and crafts. There will also be staff from the council’s youth service, Health Improvement Team, Welfare Rights and Debt Advice service; the police and young people’s mental health support from Kooth/Quell, oral health information and more.
The four Salford family hubs offer antenatal, postnatal, child health, targeted early help, relationships, parenting, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), adult, and child mental health and youth services support to young people aged between 0 and 19 (25 if they have Special Educational Needs) and their families.
They are run by Salford City Council with local health organisations, and voluntary and community groups.
Councillor Jim Cammell, Lead Member for Children’s and Young People’s Services said: “Salford’s family hubs do such great work in helping local people. We’re so proud of what they have done so far and the possibilities to make a real difference to people’s lives now and in the future.
“These open days will be a great opportunity for families to see all the help and support that’s available, as well as the many free activities that take place at our family hubs, and lots of fun for everyone.”
