With the Summer holidays fast approaching, here’s a round-up of some of the best free activities and events in Salford for the holidays.

Active Communities Summer programme:

Active Communities sessions are back, offering 8-16 year olds from across Salford the chance to swim, dance, sport and create their way through summer. Each centre supports children from towns across the city in four-day slots:

Oasis Academy: Claremont, Weaste & Seedley and The Quays, Ordsall, Pendleton & Charlestown

Co-op Walkden: Walkden, Worsley, Boothstown, Little Hulton and Westwood Park

St Patrick’s High School: Eccles, Barton & Winton

Clarendon Leisure Centre: Claremont, Weaste & Seedley, The Quays, Ordsall and Pendleton & Charlestown

Children on free school meals will be supported.

Ordsall Hall events:

From historical learning to arts and crafts, Ordsall Hall have arranged a series of activity sessions through out the holidays. Extra sessions for small charges can be found on the Ordsall Hall info site.

Explore the nature of the Hall’s incredible gardens after hours, weave Colly Dollies with Sleepy Herbs, bake bread, make lavender sleep pillows, hunt for bugs, play Tudor games, and make seedballs, in a fun-filled summer of learning.

Salford Orchard Summer School:

If your child enjoys being out in nature, this summer school of mud-pie making, den building, bug and scavenger hunts and fire lighting is perfect. Taking place every Wednesday and Thursday in the holidays, these session are suitable for any age.

LEGO sessions at Salford Libraries:

For all future builders! Libraries across Salford are running a series of LEGO building sessions for SEND children in the area. Suitable for any age, children under eight must be accompanied to the drop-in session. Contact your local library for more information.

Walkden Amateur Boxing Club:

Interested in learning more about boxing, these free sessions held at Walkden Amateur Boxing Club are for all abilities and fitness levels.

Sessions take place on Monday and Wednesdays throughout Auguts from 11-1pm.
