Salford City have made their first signing of the summer, bringing goalie Alex Cairns back to Moor Lane.
Cairns joins The Ammies for the next two years on a free transfer, after the thirty-year-old was released by Fleetwood town this summer.
The Doncaster-born goalie joined Salford in January following the departure of Tom King, and became the first choice keeper in the side, making 26 appearances.
In an interview to club media, Cairns said: “I’m delighted it’s got done, we had some special times last year and I thought if the Club did want to look at having me permanently then it would definitely be an option for me to sit down and have a conversation. Now I’m glad it’s done and I’m buzzing to be here!
“When it got to the end of the season and we’d played that last game, we didn’t quite get into the Final, I didn’t feel done, I didn’t feel finished with this football club, I feel like we’ve got more to give.”
He will officially join the side on July 1st subject to approval, ahead of the pre-season games in Spain and England.
